WELCOME to FiberFacts.

We enjoyed seeing many of you earlier this month at the Showcase for Commerce sponsored by Congressman Murtha.  For those of you who were not able to attend, we look forward to visiting you or hosting you at kSARIA in the near future.

In this issue, kSARIA is excited to announce the award of a Navy SBIR Phase II contract to develop an automated, hand-held fiber optic connector cleaning tool to simplify field maintenance and increase platform readiness.  Next, kSARIA has completed its registration under ITAR with the U.S. Department of State.  And lastly, we’ve highlighted one of a number of key patents recently issued to kSARIA; we’re very proud of our continuing technical leadership in the military and aeronautical fiber optic interconnect industry.  Please contact us for any of your fiber optic requirements.

Best regards,

Doug Dillon
Director of Business Development

kSARIA Awarded US Navy SBIR Phase II Contract

kSARIA Corporation has won a US Navy Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II contract sponsored by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to help accelerate the Navy’s migration to fiber optic technology in mission-critical aeronautical applications. The contract, valued at $850,000 with options, calls for kSARIA to develop an automated field service tool designed to deliver dramatic improvements in speed and effectiveness when cleaning multi-channel fiber optic connectors used in harsh military environments.

kSARIA Granted Another Fiber Optic Manufacturing Patent

In its efforts to continually improve the manufacturing process for mission critical fiber optic cable assemblies, kSARIA invests strongly in research and development.  In recognition of its advancements in the state of the art, kSARIA has recently been issued another key patent covering the automated process of preparing optical fiber during the assembly process.  Tony Christopher, VP of Engineering, and other members of the kSARIA technical staff are exceptionally creative in developing innovative ways to strip, clean and cleave fiber optic cable without any human intervention, fundamental to improving quality and performance and avoiding hidden defects that can create reliability problems in the field.  For more detailed information how kSARIA continues to raise the bar with cutting edge technology, please refer the patent “Automated Preparation of an Optical Fiber” on the Intellectual Property page of our website.
