CABLE INSTALLER & BOF: KSA-1212
This course is designed for individuals who install conventional fiber cables and blown optical fiber (BOF) tubes. Students will learn proper methods and procedures for installation of conventional and BOF tubes. Proper airtight testing and ball bearing (BB) path testing of the BOF tubes is also included. Students will learn BOF tube handling, forming, routing and shaping, and penetration requirements. Students will learn 8mm to 5mm BOF tube transitioning and a visual understanding of BOF furcation. Hands on testing efforts will include BB test, pressurization, and cable seal verification.
Curriculum also includes Tube end sealing and all approved methods for BOF tube jacket repair and cable splicing. Successful completion requires 40 hours of classroom lecture and practical training, followed by a written exam. Note: This course DOES NOT provide certification and licensing required to blow strand fiber in a fiber optic circuit.
