NAVSEA CERTIFIED FIBER OPTIC TRAINING
kSARIA Service Corporation is pleased to offer Navy Shipboard Fiber Optic Training and is certified under NAVSEA Drawing 8477552A, which meets the requirements of Navy Standard Item 009-123 and MIL-STD-1678.
The current class offerings include the following:
- Fiber Optic Installer: KSA-1208
This course is designed to outline all the fiber optic technician needs and includes all eight modules of training specified by NAVSEA Drawing 408-8477552. Successful completion includes 104 hours of classroom lecture and practical training, followed by a written exam.
- Termination & Cable Pull: KSA-1209
This course is designed for individuals responsible for termination, testing and routing of fiber optic cables. Students will learn the proper methods of cable routing, termination of single and multi-terminus connectors, cleanliness and testing measures. Course includes 64 hours of classroom lecture and practical training, followed by a written exam.
- Termination Tech: KSA-1210
This course is designed for individuals whose responsibilities are limited to termination and testing of Fiber Optic cables. Students will learn the proper methods for terminating single and multi-terminus connectors, cleanliness and testing measures. Successful completion requires 40 hours of classroom and practical training, and a written exam.
- Cable Installer: KSA-1211
This course is designed for individuals with responsibilities to install conventional fiber optic cables. Students will learn proper methods and procedures for installation and routing of conventional cable, as well as how to properly open and close bulkhead penetrations and testing measures in accordance with MIL-STD-2042. Successful completion requires 28 hours of classroom lecture and practical training, followed by a written exam.
- Cable Installer & BOF: KSA-1212
This course is designed for individuals who install conventional fiber cables and blown optical fiber (BOF) tubes. Students will learn proper methods and procedures for installation of conventional and BOF tubes. Proper airtight testing and ball bearing (BB) path testing of the BOF tubes is also included. Students will learn BOF tube handling, forming, routing and shaping, and penetration requirements. Students will learn 8mm to 5mm BOF tube transitioning and a visual understanding of BOF furcation. Hands on testing efforts will include BB test, pressurization, and cable seal verification.
Curriculum also includes Tube end sealing and all approved methods for BOF tube jacket repair and cable splicing. Successful completion requires 60 hours of classroom lecture and practical training, followed by a written exam. Note: This course DOES NOT provide certification and licensing required to blow strand fiber in a fiber optic circuit.
- Supervisor & Quality Assurance (Classroom lecture only): KSA-1213
This course is an 8-module overview for individuals in the role of supervisor and Quality Assurance. This course fulfills the requirements and needs in accordance with MIL-STD-2042, NSI 009-123 and MIL-STD-1678. Successful completion requires 40 hours of classroom lecture and practical training, followed by a written exam. This course DOES NOT certify individuals to perform any routing, termination, or testing of fiber optic components as this course only covers the classroom lecture requirements.
